Black Friday 2026: Dates, Early Sales and Each Store's Deadline
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27. The key dates around it, what early sales are already set, and the deadlines that follow: price matches, return windows and holiday shipping.

Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving on November 26. Cyber Monday follows on November 30. Early sales start weeks before: Amazon set its Prime Big Deal Days for October 6 and 7. After the weekend come the deadlines that matter: price matches, return windows and the last days to ship gifts.
Most Black Friday pages give you one date. That date is the easy part. What decides whether the weekend saves you money is what happens around it: which sales start early, how long you have to claim a lower price, when the return window closes, and the last day a gift can ship before December 25.
This page puts those dates in one place, checked on October 5, 2026. We update it as stores announce their plans.
When is Black Friday 2026?
Friday, November 27, 2026. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, which falls on the fourth Thursday of November; the federal holiday calendar lists Thanksgiving Day 2026 on Thursday, November 26.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| October 6 and 7 | Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, a 48-hour sale for Prime members |
| Thursday, November 26 | Thanksgiving Day |
| Friday, November 27 | Black Friday |
| Monday, November 30 | Cyber Monday |
| Thursday, December 17 | USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail: last day to ship for Christmas |
| Friday, December 18 | USPS Priority Mail: last day to ship |
| Saturday, December 19 | USPS Priority Mail Express: last day to ship |
Shipping dates are the USPS 2026 holiday shipping dates for delivery before December 25 in the contiguous US; Alaska, Hawaii and the territories have earlier dates.
How many Black Fridays are there in 2026?
One: November 27. But the sales around it stretch over weeks. Amazon set Prime Big Deal Days, its early-season sale, for October 6 and 7, and stores usually run "early Black Friday" deals through November. As of October 5, most big stores had not published their 2026 Black Friday sale dates; we add them here as they appear.
Is Black Friday really cheaper?
Sometimes, and you can check instead of guessing. The useful test is the item's own price over the past weeks, not the "was" price on the sale tag. If the Black Friday price matches what the item cost a month ago, the discount is mostly marketing.
The practical way to do it: pick the few things you actually want now, in October, and start watching their prices. The FTC's online shopping advice points out that some comparison sites send price alerts, and that it is worth asking whether you can get a credit if the price drops after you buy.
What happens if the price drops after you buy?
At some stores you can get the difference back for a short time. Target, for example, matches its own lower price on Target.com or in its stores within 14 days after purchase, and asks for the original receipt, physical or digital, or the packing slip. Exclusions apply, so check the item before you count on it.
That makes the receipt worth keeping for two weeks after Black Friday, and the price worth one more look before the window closes.
How long do you have to return Black Friday purchases?
Standard return windows apply unless a store announces a holiday policy. At Target most items have 90 days, electronics and entertainment 30 days, and Apple and Beats products 14 days. Amazon has not posted its 2026 holiday return window as of October 5; last season most items bought from November 1 to December 31 could be returned until January 31.
Electronics are where people get caught. A laptop bought on Black Friday with a 30-day window has to go back by December 27, before many people have even unwrapped their gifts.
A Black Friday plan that fits on one page
- In October: write down what you want and the price you would be happy to pay. Start watching those prices.
- The week of November 23: check which stores have posted their sale dates and holiday return windows.
- November 27 to 30: buy only from the list. Save each order confirmation.
- The two weeks after: check prices once more for a price match.
- Before the return window closes: decide what stays.
- By December 17: ship anything that has to arrive by Christmas by USPS Ground Advantage.
Hand the list and the dates to Tracy
This is what dEssence is for. Save the things you want from Chrome or Telegram now, and ask Tracy to watch the price on each one: the Free plan checks once a day, Pro at 10 dollars a month checks every hour. She tells you when the price really drops. After you buy, send her the order confirmations and she keeps the price match and return dates, and reminds you before each one passes. She watches only what you save and ask her to watch.
