The 2026 holiday shipping deadlines for delivery before Christmas in the contiguous US start on December 15 and end on December 24. For USPS in the contiguous US, the last days are December 17 for Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail, December 18 for Priority Mail and December 19 for Priority Mail Express. FedEx runs from December 15 to 24 by service. UPS has not posted 2026 dates yet.
Christmas 2026 falls on a Friday, so the shipping window closes earlier in the week than many people expect. Every date below was checked on October 5, 2026, against the carriers' own published schedules. We update this page as carriers add or change dates, and UPS is the one still missing.

USPS dates come from the USPS 2026 holiday shipping dates for the contiguous US. FedEx dates come from its 2026 holiday chart, which targets arrival by December 24, and FedEx says they may change.
What are the USPS holiday deadlines for 2026?
For delivery before December 25 in the contiguous US: December 17 for Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail, December 18 for Priority Mail and December 19 for Priority Mail Express. USPS notes that the actual delivery date can vary with where you ship from, where it goes and what time the Post Office accepts it.
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US territories have their own column: December 16 for Ground Advantage, December 17 for First-Class Mail, December 18 for Priority Mail and December 19 for Priority Mail Express. International mail closes much earlier. For most regions, including Canada, Europe and Mexico, the recommended date is December 9 for First-Class Package International and Priority Mail International, and December 16 for Priority Mail Express International.
What is the FedEx holiday schedule for 2026?
FedEx publishes a chart of last shipping days for arrival by December 24. Ground and Home Delivery depend on how many transit days your route takes: December 17 for a five-day route, December 18 for four days, December 21 for three, December 22 for two and December 23 for one. Ground Economy is earliest, December 15. Express Saver is December 21, 2Day is December 22, overnight services are December 23 and SameDay is December 24.

What are the UPS deadlines for Christmas 2026?
Not posted yet. As of October 5, UPS's holiday page still links its 2025 year-end schedule, and it lists December 24 and 25 as its Christmas holiday, with UPS closed on Christmas Day. We will add the UPS dates here when they appear. Until then, plan as if UPS Ground needs the same lead time as FedEx Ground for your route.
Which holidays does USPS not deliver on?
USPS closes Post Offices on federal holidays and delivers only Priority Mail Express on those days; regular delivery resumes the next business day. In the holiday stretch that means Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2026, and New Year's Day, Friday, January 1, 2027, both on the federal holiday calendar.
The deadline that matters is earlier than the carrier's
Carrier cutoffs assume the box is packed and handed over that day. Two things push your real date earlier.
Online orders. The store has to pick, pack and hand the parcel to a carrier first. If the store posts an "order by" date for Christmas delivery, that date comes before the carrier's, and it is the one to follow. If it posts nothing, add the store's handling time from the product page to the carrier cutoff.
Gifts you ship yourself. You need time to buy, wrap and get to a Post Office during opening hours, in the busiest week of the year. Give yourself three days before the carrier date.
A shipping plan for December 2026
- First week of December: list every gift that has to travel and where it goes. Mark anything international, Alaska or Hawaii: those go first.
- By December 9: send international gifts by USPS First-Class Package International or Priority Mail International.
- By December 14: ship everything going by Ground in the contiguous US. That is three days before the USPS cutoff of December 17.
- December 17 and 18: last calls for Ground Advantage, then Priority Mail.
- After that: Priority Mail Express until December 19, or FedEx overnight until December 23, at a higher price.
