Why Instagram saved posts disappear

If the creator deleted or archived the post, you cannot restore it from your account. If they deleted or deactivated their account, access may disappear more broadly. Content might return if the creator restores it, but that is their action to take.

If the account became private, you need to be an approved follower. A pending follow request is not access. Blocking or removal from a follower list can also affect visibility; a bookmark does not override those permissions.

Back up what you can still access

For a record of your saves, open Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Export your information, formerly Download your information. Select your Instagram account, export to your device, include Saved where offered, and choose All time. HTML is convenient for reading; JSON is useful for structured inspection.

Meta's announcement about information controls confirms Accounts Center as the home of account downloads. Inspect the downloaded saved-post records: expect links and associated metadata, not a guaranteed offline collection of other people's videos and photos. An older export may identify a missing URL, but requesting one now cannot recreate content already removed.

For details you cannot afford to lose, capture screenshots while the post is accessible. Include the creator handle, relevant carousel slides, and the full ingredient list or specification. Keep the source URL alongside them. A screenshot of one video frame will not preserve the whole tutorial.
