Gift Card Email Not Received: What the Buyer Should Check First
Gift card email not received? Check the order, scheduled send date and recipient address, then use the seller’s official resend process.

A gift card email that has not arrived needs an order check before another purchase. Find the scheduled delivery date, confirm the recipient address, then use the seller's official resend route.
Gift card email not received: check the order first
Open the account or receipt you used to buy the gift. A payment notification alone does not tell you whether the gift email has been sent. Look for the order number, the delivery method and the order status. Save that information before you contact support.
Check whether you selected immediate delivery or a future date. A December gift bought in November may still be waiting for its scheduled send date. Read the date on the receipt instead of assuming checkout triggered delivery. If a time zone is shown, keep it with the date.
Also check who was supposed to receive the message. Some purchases send a gift directly to another person; others give the buyer a link to share. An order confirmation in your inbox can be a receipt rather than the recipient's gift. If you chose a link, you may still need to send it yourself.
Do not buy a replacement while the first order's status is unclear. Ask the seller whether the original purchase succeeded and whether it has already been delivered or redeemed. You want one working gift, with a clear record of what happened to the first order.
Ask the recipient to check these places
Have the recipient search their mailbox for the seller's name and gift-card wording, then check spam, trash and any promotions or filtered folders. Search the mailbox associated with the address on the order. An email alias or an old work account can explain why a search in the usual inbox finds nothing.
Compare the address character by character. If it is wrong, use the correction or support route for that purchase. A typo pointing to a nonexistent address is different from sending a usable gift to somebody else's real inbox. Report the latter promptly; do not assume a resend will recover it.
Before requesting another delivery, check:
- The order exists in the buyer's account or receipt.
- The chosen delivery date has arrived.
- The recipient address and delivery method are correct.
- The recipient has searched the relevant mailbox and spam folder.
- The seller's stated delivery period has passed, or there is an address error to fix.
Two official resend routes, with different rules
The correct steps depend on where you bought the gift. These examples cover Google Play's digital gift-card service and Netflix gift cards purchased through Amazon. They do not establish a delivery promise for every electronic gift card.
| Purchase | Where the buyer starts | Important difference |
|---|---|---|
| Digital gift card through Google Play | Order History or the receipt, then Google's resend form | Scheduled deliveries require support for changes |
| Netflix electronic gift card through Amazon | Your Orders, then Resend Gift Card | Reissue deactivates the original gift card |
For a Google Play digital gift, check Google's buying and delivery instructions. Its help page says delivery is usually within an hour but can take up to 24 hours. That timing belongs to this service. It is not a reason to promise the recipient that any gift will arrive in minutes.
Google says its gift emails come from googleplay-donotreply@google.com. The buyer uses the resend form linked in the help page and supplies the order ID. For a scheduled delivery, contact support to request a change or cancellation; Google says buyers cannot manually cancel, reschedule or resend those scheduled deliveries.
For a Netflix gift bought on Amazon, Netflix's official instructions direct the buyer to Your Orders and the Resend Gift Card button. Read the information on the reissue screen before confirming. Netflix says this creates a new gift card and deactivates the original. Keep the new confirmation so the recipient knows which message to use.
A missing resend button is a reason to contact the seller, not proof that another purchase is needed. Netflix notes that the card may already have been redeemed. Let support check the order rather than asking the recipient to send you a screenshot containing their code.
Give support the order record, not the redemption code
A useful first message is short: "I bought a digital gift on [date], order [number], for delivery on [date]. The recipient has checked the address and spam folder. Please confirm its delivery status and the correct resend or correction procedure."
Add the address through the seller's official support form if requested. Keep payment details out of a public post. For your own follow-up note, an order number, merchant name, intended date and support reference are enough. You do not need a redemption code, PIN or unredacted payment card image in a reminder.
If support says it has resent the gift, record when and to which address. Ask the recipient to confirm receipt. Keep the case open in your notes until the message arrives or support explains the next step. Delivery of the email and successful redemption are separate checks; a balance problem after receipt needs the issuer's help for that issue.
Remember the follow-up after the resend
Save a redacted confirmation or support reply to dEssence yourself, then ask Tracy to remind you to check receipt at a time you choose. Include the order number and the promised next step, with the gift code and PIN removed. Tracy can help you return to that information; she does not read the recipient's inbox, resend the gift card or check its balance. You contact the seller and confirm the outcome with the recipient.
FAQ
How long should I wait for a gift card email?
Use the seller's stated delivery period and the scheduled date on your order. Google Play's digital gift service allows for delays up to 24 hours; other sellers may use different timing. Contact support sooner if the recipient address is wrong.
Can I resend a gift card without buying it again?
Often you can, through the original order or the seller's support process. Check the instructions for that purchase. A reissue can invalidate the old code, as Netflix explains for its electronic gift cards bought on Amazon.
What if I entered the wrong email address?
Contact the seller through the order or its official correction form. Explain whether the address was nonexistent or belonged to another person. Do not assume a delivered or redeemed gift can be reversed.
Should I send Tracy the gift card code?
No. Save the redacted order confirmation and the follow-up date. A redemption code or PIN is unnecessary for remembering to check delivery or a support reply.
