If your Airbnb wishlist is not working, separate the problem into access, collaboration and availability. A friend who cannot edit the list needs a different fix from a listing that no longer appears for the trip dates. Start with the account and the dates before rebuilding the group's shortlist.

How Airbnb wishlists actually save a stay

Tap the heart on a listing and choose an existing wishlist or create a new one. Further saves from the same search go into the same wishlist automatically; use Change to move an entry. Each wishlist holds up to 100 listings, and entries retain the original search dates until you update them.

Logged-in collaborators can read and add notes, vote listings up or down, change proposed trip dates and update the guest count. Anyone with the link can view the wishlist. Before sending the group back into the search results, agree on the trip you are comparing. A flexible weekend and a fixed arrival day produce different shortlists. Ask the organizer to state the current dates and guest count in the group conversation, then have everyone compare against those details.

Give the list a recognizable trip name. This is your own naming habit, not an access control. A name such as “Coastal weekend with friends” is easier to distinguish from the unrelated places you saved while browsing for another holiday.

Treat deletion as a deliberate reset. Tell the current group which list replaces the old one, and stop circulating the previous link. Preserve the useful context before you delete anything; do not expect the new wishlist to inherit the discussion.

Keep sensitive travel details out of the wishlist notes. A useful comment might explain that a place suits a late arrival. It does not need a traveler's personal circumstances, private contact details or the contents of the group's separate conversations.

When a saved Airbnb listing disappears

Check the trip dates against the dates attached to the saved candidate. Ask whether the group changed its arrival plans after the original search. A place that no longer fits those dates should move out of the active decision, even if everybody still likes its photographs.

If you have the original listing reference, use it to investigate the current stay rather than trying to reconstruct it from a cropped picture. If availability remains unclear, ask the host about the intended dates. Avoid telling the group that the place has been deleted unless you have evidence of that.

Keep a fallback candidate whose practical requirements also work. “The prettiest remaining option” may still fail if the beds, location or arrival arrangements are wrong. Write down the requirement that disqualified the missing favorite so you can compare the replacement fairly.

Keep the reason outside the listing

Airbnb supports notes, so use them while collaborating. The limitation is that a listing-centered shortlist is a fragile home for the group's lasting reasoning. Preserve your own concise decision record separately.

Write the property name, neighborhood, intended dates and guest needs, followed by the reason it reached the shortlist. Useful phrases include “host answered our arrival question clearly,” “easy walk from the station” and “check again if we shift arrival to Tuesday.” Distinguish something you verified from something you still need to ask.

Include the outstanding question and who is checking it. “Sam will confirm the sleeping arrangements” is more useful than another heart reaction. When the group chooses a stay, mark that decision in the same record so an old favorite does not restart the discussion.
