eBay Saved Searches Stopped Emailing You: What to Do
To fix eBay saved search emails, check the envelope icon on the search in Saved searches, then Communication preferences and your spam folder. By default, eBay emails your registered address when new items match.

If your eBay saved searches emails are not working, check the search's own email switch before changing your whole account. A search can remain saved while its email alerts are switched off. Then check the account receiving the messages, your communication preferences, and the query itself.
Pick one affected search as your test case. Write down its keywords, filters, and the date of the last email you received. Changing one search at a time gives you a clearer diagnosis than deleting your whole collection and starting again.
eBay's Push Notifications help page includes an Email notifications section. It directs users to Communication preferences and recommends checking junk mail when notifications do not arrive. The page does not promise that every new listing produces an immediate individual email.
How to save a search on eBay
Search for the item, add the filters you care about, then select Save this search at the top of the results page. eBay's help page on saved searches says it then emails your registered address when new items matching the search are listed. Your saved searches also show up in your feed when you are signed in, and under Saved on the eBay homepage.
To see what a saved search has found, open Saved searches and choose View items. If a product's name or details change, update the search, or new listings under the new name will not match it.
Where to find eBay saved searches, and how to edit or delete them
All of them sit on the Saved searches page, which you also reach through Saved on the homepage. From there:
- Edit a search: open it, add or remove filters such as price, color or listing type, and select Save this search again. eBay creates a new saved search with the new filters, so you will see two. Delete the old one once the new one is saved.
- Delete a search: select the blue heart on that search.
- Stop or restart emails: select the envelope icon on the search. Select it again to get the emails back.
Because editing creates a copy, a long list of near-identical searches can come from edits rather than from eBay saving things on its own.
When eBay saved searches emails still are not working
Open the affected search and examine what it actually returns. Start with a brand and model, such as “Sony WH-1000XM5,” rather than “headphones.” Add only essential filters: condition, buying format, item location, and a realistic price range. Check the total with shipping before deciding whether a listing meets your budget.
A broad query makes matching items harder to assess; it is not a documented explanation for eBay silently disabling email. An overly restrictive query, meanwhile, may have no new matches. Remove filters one at a time and compare the results. If an exact phrase returns nothing, try the model number without extra descriptive words.
Use Sort → Time: newly listed to check recent results. Note one relevant listing and its listing time. The presence of older inventory is not evidence that a fresh notification should have arrived today.
If the settings are right but no alerts arrive
Check the test search manually over the next day or two. This is a practical observation window, not eBay's promised delivery schedule. If new matching listings appear while email remains absent, contact eBay through Help & Contact while signed in.
Provide the search terms, active filters, account email, last received alert date, and an example of a new matching listing. Include screenshots of the enabled envelope and relevant preferences. Those details let support investigate a specific delivery problem instead of repeating the same setup instructions.
While waiting for support, bookmark the results page and choose a regular time to check it yourself. Keep the model number and essential filters alongside that bookmark. If you loosen the query temporarily, record what changed so you can restore the intended search later. Manual checking is particularly useful for one specific purchase you are actively planning.
For one specific listing you want to follow, this guide to tracking prices and restocks compares the options, including handing the watching to Tracy.
Frequently asked questions
Does eBay email you about saved searches by default?
Yes. By default, eBay sends alerts to your registered email address when new items match your search or when the saved search is updated. You can switch them off and on per search with the envelope icon.
Why do I have two copies of the same saved search?
Editing a saved search on eBay creates a new one with the filters you chose and keeps the old one. Delete the copy you no longer need with its blue heart.
How do I delete a saved search on eBay?
Go to Saved searches and select the blue heart on the search you want to remove.
