Spotify Saved Episodes: Where They Go and How to Keep Podcast Recommendations

Spotify saved episodes go to the Your Episodes playlist in Your Library when you tap the plus button on an episode. For podcasts friends recommend, add the episode to its own playlist instead, so it does not get lost among everything else.

Spotify Saved Episodes: Where They Go and How to Keep Podcast Recommendations

Where are saved episodes on Spotify?

Saved episodes are in Your Library, in a playlist called Your Episodes. On a phone or tablet, tap the plus (Add) button on an episode and Spotify saves it to Your Episodes, according to Spotify's podcasts help.

To open them, go to Your Library and look for Your Episodes among your playlists. You can also choose a filter at the top of Your Library or search your collection to find it faster.

Following a show is a different action. Follow saves the whole show to Your Library under Podcasts. New episodes of shows you follow appear under Home, then Podcasts, then Following, and they are not the same as episodes you saved one by one.

If Your Episodes looks empty or incomplete, Spotify suggests three checks in its missing content guide: pull the screen down to see whether a filter is hiding something, make sure you are logged in to the right account, and use Search to find and save the episode again if it did not save correctly.

How to remove saved episodes on Spotify

To remove a saved episode, tap the three dots next to its title (horizontal on iPhone, vertical on Android), then tap Remove. Spotify's help describes removing episodes one at a time and does not list a way to clear all saved episodes at once.

Clearing Your Episodes is easier when it only holds what you still plan to hear. That is why recommendations from friends deserve their own playlist, as the next part of this guide shows.

Save an episode to a playlist instead of Your Episodes

Tap the Saved icon on an episode, then pick a playlist or create a new one. Spotify's help lists this as the way to save an episode to a different playlist. A separate playlist keeps the episodes friends recommend apart from everything else you saved with one tap.

You can also download episodes for a trip or a commute without signal. On the free version of Spotify you can download podcasts, and Premium adds albums and playlists, per Spotify's offline guide. The podcasts page adds that some shows may need Premium to download, and the offline guide says you need to go online at least once every 30 days to keep your downloads.

Saving songs works differently: liked songs go to Liked Songs, and our guide to searching Spotify Liked Songs covers that list. On an iPhone with Apple's app instead, see how to organize saved episodes in Apple Podcasts.

Create one playlist for recommendations

Use one playlist for episodes suggested by friends, coworkers, newsletters, and other shows. Recommended Podcasts is clear enough.

Do not create separate business, history, health, and comedy lists before you need them. Every category adds a decision at the moment of saving. One playlist answers the useful question: What did someone tell me to hear?

When a recommendation arrives, find the episode, tap the Saved icon and choose Recommended Podcasts. The plus button on its own puts the episode in Your Episodes with everything else you saved; the dedicated playlist gives spoken recommendations a home you recognize.

Save the episode, not just the show

A friend usually recommends one conversation, story, or interview. Following the whole show does not preserve that choice. Confirm the episode title, guest, and publication date when several results look similar. If your friend can send the Spotify share link, use it rather than guessing.

Following the show can still make sense for future releases, but that is a separate decision.

Capture the recommendation during the conversation

Recommendations often arrive while you are walking, eating, or standing in a busy hallway. If you can save the episode without derailing the conversation, do it immediately.

If you cannot, record one short temporary line somewhere you already use:

Marcus, podcast with the chef who left the Copenhagen restaurant.

What survives may be the emotional or unusual part, such as the talk about grief, money or a career change, rather than the host and title Spotify search needs. A line containing the person, format, and memorable detail bridges that gap.

Keep context outside the playlist when necessary

A playlist preserves an episode but may not preserve why it mattered. For valuable context, keep a companion note with the title, recommender, and one sentence:

The Daily Practice, episode with Ana Ruiz. Recommended by Leah after our conversation about changing careers.

A notes app is enough. If recommendations sit beside articles and videos, you can send the Spotify link to dEssence from Telegram or Chrome with one line of context, and later ask Tracy for "the podcast Leah mentioned" in your own words. Do not document every episode this way. Keep context only when losing it would reduce the recommendation’s value.

Put the next few episodes at the top

Choose a small group you could realistically play next and order them for listening situations:

  • A short episode for a walk
  • A longer interview for a train journey
  • Something light for cooking
  • A detailed episode for uninterrupted listening

Only the first few choices need attention. The playlist should remove a decision when listening time appears.

Remove episodes after listening

The recommendation playlist represents items awaiting attention, not a permanent listening history. After finishing, remove the episode. Save any quote, book title, or practical idea separately with the episode link.

If you stopped because the episode was not useful, remove it without guilt.

Search using the distinctive detail

When the episode was not captured directly, search for the guest, show, or subject in combinations. Chef restaurant Copenhagen podcast is more useful than food. Review descriptions and cover art for recognition. If two results remain possible, send both to the person who recommended it rather than guessing.

Once identified, add the episode immediately.

Review when you actually listen

A formal weekly maintenance session is unnecessary. Open the playlist before a commute, walk, or other normal listening moment. Move one promising episode to the top, remove anything you no longer want, and start listening. That keeps the system tied to the activity it supports.

FAQ

Where do saved episodes go on Spotify?

To the Your Episodes playlist in Your Library. Tap the plus button on an episode to save it there.

Why are my saved episodes not showing on Spotify?

Spotify's help points to three causes: a filter in Your Library hides them, you are logged in to a different account, or the episode did not save. Pull down in Your Library to see filters, check the account, then search for the episode and save it again.

Can I remove all saved episodes on Spotify at once?

Spotify's help only describes removing saved episodes one at a time: tap the three dots next to the episode title, then Remove.

Is following a podcast the same as saving an episode?

No. Following saves the show under Podcasts in Your Library and brings new episodes to Home, under Podcasts and Following. Saving an episode keeps that one episode in Your Episodes.

Can I download saved episodes on Spotify Free?

Yes, the free version can download podcasts. Some shows may need Premium to download, and downloads stay only if you go online at least once every 30 days.
